Brownies! Who doesn't enjoy a good brownie? They have long been my go-to comfort snack. Making brownies tends to be a stress-relieving activity for me, and eating them is a whole different experience.

Finding the proper texture for my brownies took a while and a lot of experimenting. It's a matter of personal preference, some folks prefer cakey brownies, while others prefer fudgy brownies. 

So if you are like me, who likes them fudgy, here are a couple of methods to fudge-ize your brownies!

So why do brownies turn out cakey sometimes?

There are several possible causes for this, the most prevalent of which is using too much flour or baking powder. Another possibility is that you may not have enough butter in your batter.

Too much whisking can also result in cakey brownies. When you whisk your batter, you're aerating it and making it lighter in texture. A cakey brownie is made when there is too much air in the batter, resulting in a fluffy, cake-like interior.

How to make fudgy brownies?

Simply change the proportions of the ingredients!

Dark chocolate, butter, eggs, flour, and sugar are the five basic ingredients in brownies. You can tweak the texture by just adjusting the ratios and amounts of these ingredients.

Use more chocolate and butter and less flour to make a fudgy brownie. Your brownie will be dense, gooey, and absolutely delicious if you do it this way.

How to make your brownies cakey?

Use additional flour and a pinch of baking powder to make a cakey brownie that's light and fluffy. These brownies will be just as tasty, only with a different texture.  

How do you make brownies chewy? (Yes, some people prefer it chewy!).

All the core ingredients remain the same. Just use brown sugar instead of white, plus a slight underbake makes a chewy brownie.

Is there a trick to making your brownies more fudgy and moist?

All you have to do is add a little oil to the batter! Oil is an excellent technique to keep your brownies moist while preventing them from cracking at the top.
